What Is The Limit Of Children One Can Babysit Without A Licensed Daycare?
As of right now, I’m living in Chesapeake, Virginia and I would like to find out how many children I’m allowed to have in my home without having to get a license. I’m only going to be here less than a year so I don’t want to go through the process of getting a license just yet, I’m saving that for when I settle permenantly in Illinois. Can anyone help?

Part of getting the license is making sure your home is safe, your background is checked and you are educated in safety including reducing the risk of SIDS and shaken baby.
I cannot believe mothers would trust you to care for their children without a license.
You should want to obtain the license so that you know you are offering the children in your care some safety.

I am a licensed family daycare provider in NY. Here, we can only have 2 unrelated children in our care, without being licensed.

It varies from state to state. Someplaces it is 5 or 7, I think.
If you don’t get a license, don’t solicite to babysit from people you do not know. I would only approach people who already knew and trusted me if I weren’t going to be licensed.
