Do You Think That Hollywood Stars Should Raise Money For People In The U.s. Instead Of Other Countries?
With a lot of hollywood stars donating money to Africa and elsewhere and adopting kids from other countries, do you think it would be better that they be a little more patriotic and help people here? I mean all i ever see is so and so donated money to so and so country or so and so adopted a kid from so and so country. Come on hollywood help your fellow Americans here that are poor, hungry, need of family, etc.

I’m a firm believer of the statement “Generosity starts at home”. But I think most of them do it for the sake of publicity. What’s going to make a bigger headline, some actress going to Africa and hugging little hungry kids, or the same actress, volunteering hours at a local youth shelter for troubled kids here in the US? It’s all about money and publicity.
All these “famous” people going to other countries adopting kids because it’s the cool thing to do these days while there are millions of children right at their back doorstep who need homes and just basic things to live just makes me sick.

I think they should shut up and act.

If they did that, it would make too much sense…and it wouldn’t be fashionable. I mean, they wear clothes from Italy…carry purses from France…how can they take care of a child from Mississippi?

I think your right. We have alot of poor towns that no one really knows about and the kids here need to get adopted as well not just over seas’.There are alot of folks with no home because of the weather and all the fires and not one rich A** can help their own country.Crazy if you ask me.

I agree with you 100%! There are so many homeless, poor and needy people right here in the United States that it just steams my hide when I hear that yet again! Look under a bush, on a street corner, in the orphanages or at the shelters here and that should tell you something about our country. I live in Phoenix, AZ, we get to 112 degrees and over for months at a time and we have homeless families, WITH CHILDREN!, out in that heat with no food or water. I bring my dogs in because of the heat and these poor kids only get to go in somewhere if they end up in the hospital with heat stroke or heat exhaustion. So, yeah, open your eyes, celebs, and take a look at our own country and the millions you could be helping out with over here! Why are they supporting other countries to begin with? US is billions of dollars in debt to other countries now, they sure don’t need more of our money!

I was just saying that to my mom yesterday. The only justification I can make is that the poor in other countries have it worse than the poor here in America. BUT why save someone in another country when skid row is full of poor dirty and cold children and adults who need help.

I think they owe it to the people that give them jobs to only do positive things for those people. We have impoverished people here, we have alot of problems here, so why not? And they should definitely keep their mouths shut about their opinions on religion or politics or anything cause no one gives a **** and they have messed up ideals anyways. such as scientology! what the hell is that? pyschos

l believe most of them do both. The situation in Africa is so terrible that it gets the most press and attention right now.

It looks more glamorous for them to help those third world countries. It is easier to complain that the U.S. government doesn’t take care of our own needs in this country

yea they should support their country. not all the hollywood actors/actresses are American. but yeah, i see where you are going with this and want to answer.
Ok – Sometimes its easy to forget that there is a whole world of poeple out there. there are orphans in america, but they get decent care. not saying that americans shouldnt adopt americans, but places that are less developed than america, those “orphans” will just end up sick, homeless, and usually die of some sort of disease, deprivation, etc.
However, what we thrive on is all the “stuff” celebrities buy for those kids over the next twenty years. their “children” will be showered (quite literally) with gifts from their filthy rich celebrity parents.
so to anwser your question donating and adopting is only a small percentage of what they really spend. just look at what they are wearing right here at http://www.hergossip.com/

Nah. Other countries seem a lot poorer than the US. I agree with their decisions.
